An
alumnus of Teach For America, Mr. Day began his teaching career in
Trenton, New Jersey in 1994. A native of Memphis, he graduated from
Tennessee State University. Upon moving to the Bay Area in 1996 he
spent the next five years working as a fifth grade teacher in Oakland,
California. He has also taught at the university level through the San
Francisco State Summer Bridge program. Also during this time, Mr. Day
enrolled in San Francisco evening law school and has completed an
extended externship with the United States Department of Justice - U.S.
Attorney's Office, as well as an internship with the Oakland Raiders
legal department. Prior to joining the CUES office, Mr. Day worked with
at-risk youth as a juvenile court liaison, and youth mentor. A past
MESA instructor, Mr. Day worked as an instructor with the PEP Summer
Academy in 2004, in 2005 as coordinator, and currently the Associate
Director of Academies.
