资源简介 |
What does intelligence mean and are we really different form spiders that dig holes? Is personality inherited or does the environment shape people? Is there a life of a psychologist besides Freud? Can we prove that dogs lay eggs if we apply statistics in a certain way?
This course provides an overview over basic topics of Psychology as a scientific discipline, including psychological methods, history, general psychology, biological psychology, developmental psychology, social psychology and clinical psychology. Key concepts are discussed in class and students are encouraged to integrate the new knowledge into their personal frameworks. At the end of this course students should be able to evaluate other researchers’ works critically and become wise consumers of psychological findings.
Students are supposed to participate in class actively and to do basic research on a partly unknown topic. Therefore, besides the final examination they have to write an essay and do brief homeworks after some of the lectures to deepen their understanding of key terms. |
