Continuing Education and Distance Learning
Cal VIEW (Virtual Instruction for the Engineering World)
The College broadcasts selected Berkeley courses on the web and offers them for sale and lease to engineering firms.
University
Extension
Continuing Education in Engineering provides a broad range of
technical courses for those interested in updating their knowledge
or exploring other areas of engineering.
Academic Enrichment Programs
Alumni-Student
Mentorship Program
The Engineering
Alumni Society, in conjunction with the online community Engineering@cal,
helps engineering students connect with alumni mentors.
Center
for Underrepresented Engineering Students (CUES) Nationally recognized, CUES sponsors programs to recruit, encourage, and assist underrepresented and disadvantaged students in the study of engineering.
Undergraduate Research Opportunities (URO) Program
The URO program provides an opportunity for undergraduates to participate
in research with engineering faculty members.

Interdisciplinary Programs
Increasingly, the solution to engineering problems requires contributions
from more than one field. Interdisciplinary
Studies (IDS) coordinates programs that involve various branches
of engineering, the natural sciences and mathematics, the biological
sciences and medicine, the social sciences, and the humanities:
Applied
Science and Technology Graduate Group
The Graduate Program in AS&T focuses on applied physics, engineering
sciences, and mathematical sciences.
Bioengineering
Graduate Group
This program permits students to benefit from the strong clinical
and health sciences resources on the UC San Francisco campus and
the strong engineering and basic life sciences resources on the UC
Berkeley campus.
Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology
CET is an academic center designed to promote entrepreneurial education and to foster new venture creation.
Engineering
Science, Undergraduate Programs
This undergraduate program encompasses a variety of closely related areas of the physical and biological sciences, mathematics and engineering. It is intended to provide a means whereby students,
while acquiring knowledge of engineering methods, can pursue their
interests in areas of natural science.
Management
of Technology
The MOT Program is joint effort between the College of Engineering
and the Haas School of Business that addresses critical technology
management issues.
Ocean
Engineering Graduate Group
This program focuses on the design and construction of ships, offshore platforms, and other ocean structures.
SESAME
(Studies in Engineering, Science and Mathematics Education)
SESAME produces graduates who have advanced expertise in a scientific
discipline as well as in educational theory and research methodologies.
The program includes studies that connect human development, cognitive
science, and educational technology with the learning of science,
mathematics, and engineering.
Technical Communication
Program
This program teaches students to present technical and non-technical
material effectively to a variety of audiences, ranging from the educated
non-specialist to the more technically literate.
Additional student educational resources can be found in the
Current
Students section.
